About Laura

Laura McDonald began her career in fitness when she became a Red Cross certified life guard at the age of fourteen. She started her own business teaching swimming lessons to local kids.
After the birth of her third child, and gaining (and having to lose) over 70 lbs with each pregnancy, she became dedicated to helping others lose weight.
She became certified in group fitness, personal training, yoga-fit, mat pilates, and many other areas of fitness and nutrition.
Laura began teaching kick-boxing, step, strength training and other classes at Lucille Roberts and gyms around Manhattan.
She saw the need for other “moms” to incorporate fitness into a social setting and created and implemented a customized exercise plan for a group of moms at her kids school. (Which still exists today!)
Laura also had the honor of working as the Fitness Director for Pinnacle Labs creating a 6 six month program, “Healthier Lifestyle” challenge for New York City Policewomen after 9/11.
In 2008 NBC’s “Your Total Health” with Hoda Kotb featured Laura’s “Box-Fit” class.
She has since created and contributed over a dozen segments to NBC’s web-based series covering many topics in the fitness and health area.
Laura is currently working with private clients, teaching her custom classes at her New York City studio and in Central Park, and is offering web-based coaching services to individuals and groups.
She has just published her first two booklets on Kindle, "Exercise and Endorphins" and "Sex and Exercise."  Laura is currently a contributor to MindBodyGreen and is working on a book about her own personal experiences in the fitness industry, blogging, creating her own videos and of course performing her most important role every day--- Mom!
